Surfing in pairs or with several people in a surf course is always fun and above all you are on the safe side.
Surfing Fuerteventura: "El Norte" - The North
In the north, the famous North Shore impresses with its countless reef breaks.
This section is a good 15 kilometres long and you have to prepare yourself for sandy gravel tracks to reach the surf spots.
The surf level is very high here, because the strength of the trade winds makes them more susceptible to the wind.
Majanicho is ideal for both beginners and advanced surfers because the reefbreaks there are gentler. El Heirro, Yarro and Bubble are also highly recommended for surfing.
"El Este" - The East
Here, the north-east trade wind is famous for conjuring up fantastic wind swells. Therefore, it is also suitable for beginners.
The surf spots in the south of Corralejo are outstanding, such as Flagbeach, but this spot is better known among kiters and windsurfers.
When it comes to surfing (wave riding), the names Endubadera, El Buro, El Morro or Playa Blanca stand out. If we continue down the eastern coast towards the south, a visit to Playa Sotavento is a must (also rather popular among kiters and windsurfers).
On all these beaches in the south-east of Fuerteventura you will find pearly white beaches reminiscent of the Caribbean or Hawaii. As previously mentioned, the annual World Surfing Championships also take place there.
"El Sur"- The South
At Morro Jable there is a gravel road that will take you to the stunning beaches of Cofete.
It’s a bit longer to get there, but you’ll be rewarded! With winds almost always blowing offshore and the line-ups are much emptier.
Moreover, this part of the island is not called the jewel of Fuerteventura without reason. Among others, the surf spots Turbia, Salinas and Aguitas are also worth mentioning here. However, all these surf spots are more suitable for advanced surfers as there are strong currents!
Surfing Fuerteventura: "El Oeste" - The West
The west coast is a true surf safari. So off to adventure!
On your list should definitely be El Cotillo with its beautiful beaches like Playa de Castillo and Playa Esquinzo. There, the powerful closeouts provide a lot of white water, which gives you the right push to practise standing up on the surfboard.
Playa de Garcey is only for advanced surfers because there are many currents.
Unparalleled cliffs and a beautiful beach can be found at Playa La Pared, in the south-west of the island. There you will always find a wave due to the swell magnets and that is why this spot is so interesting for beginners as well as advanced surfers.
But even here there can be currents, so we recommend that you jump into the water under supervision (unless you are an advanced surfer)!
Buen provecho! Surfing Fuerteventura is a culinary world tour
Varied gastronomic offers of vegetarian, vegan, international and local food, leave nothing to be desired.
The multitude of different cultureson the island automatically leads to a culinary voyage of discovery.
If you are already in Spain, you should definitely try the numerous tapas. These reflect the pure and true attitude to life of the locals. With each bite you immerse yourself even more in the lifestyle of this particular island.
Surfing Fuerteventura also means that you will have a big appetite after surfing or your surf lessons.
A good cool “cerveza” and a “chupito” at the end are also recommended. Let yourself be enchanted by Fuerteventura’s diverse cuisine!
Don’t let surfers or friends tell you about Fuerteventura any longer, just experience the dream island for yourself!
Surfing Fuerteventura, the ocean is calling you!
